Broken is the second book in the Save Me series and is Eric and Lena's story. In Save, we met Eric and Lena and learned that Eric suffered years of abuse as a child. He also lost his first girlfriend and soul mate Lindsay, at the hands of her abuser. Lena is also broken and in this story, we find out what happened to her.

I actually have mixed feelings about the book. The first thing I need to say is that I really liked Eric. He was sweet, sensitive, caring and protective. He definitely deserved love and happiness. The problem that I have is that forty percent of this book is about Lena and Levi. I understand that the author wanted to tell Lena's back story and give us an understanding of why Lena was so broken but forty percent of a book about another guy had me really liking that other guy. Levi was patient, gentle...he spent time with her, he took her to his house and introduced her to his parents...he admitted to having watched her for years, admiring her but never saying anything to her...he knew of her love for photography and surprised her with a beautiful location to take great photos. When he told her he loved her, it was after they were intimate. He never pushed her to do anything.

While reading all of these great things about Levi, I knew that something was going to happen. Even though I could tell it was going to be as another reviewer stated, a Pretty in Pink situation (which it was), I was hoping for something huge. Either death, abuse or I needed Levi to do something horrific to make me hate him. That wasn't the case. He was a kid and what he did could have been IMO redeemed.
After dealing for years with self esteem issues as a result of her heartbreak, Eric was able to help Lena become whole again. All of the walls she had built around her heart, he worked hard to knock them down. In turn, Lena helped Eric deal with his issues as well. This story was about two broken people finding love and I was happy that Eric and Lena got their HEA. Great message about family even when your not blood related.

You must read this book! The subject matter isn't always pretty, but the story is beautiful. I didn't read the first book in this series that introduces us to Bree, but this book is great as a stand alone. The hell that these characters have been through is something that happens to way too many people every day. The strength that they show, and the love they find in the family they build together is wonderful to read. The characters are well developed, and the story flows beautifully. I can't wait to read more from this author and hope this isn't the end of this series.
Loved the second book in the save me series. I thought a majority of the book would just be a replay of the first book, but it wasn't. In the first book you just get a little look into the relationship between Eric and Lena but in this book you get the full picture. Lena and Eric's background are both not great but somehow to broken people seem to make it work in the end but it is hard. The party that hurt my heart the most did not even have to do with Lena or Eric it was the domestic violence part when Joey looses his family at the hands of his father and he is the sole survivor. I almost cried. Great story, great author.
Ok so as I read this story it hits me about half way through that I've read a story very similar to this one but from a different way! Then it hits me the other story that I read was of Bree and Josh. And to be honest I think that it was better to read the first story in order to really comprehend this one! I won't give any spoilers out, but this story about Lena and Eric touched my heart! By the end I was in love with the characters, feeling what they felt and crying right along with them. To me this is the most real and amazing kind of story that an author can write. It has everything LOVE heartbreak amazing sex and family all wrapped together! 10+++++++ stars and a highly recommended book!
Did not read SAVE but Broken was easy to read without reading the first one anyway. I really enjoyed the book. Very good reading with strong emotions storyline, interesting and intriguing characters. Someone wrote that the language was nasty and end up skipping to the end. Well yes there were some nasty words and I understand that some people are offended by that type of language, but this was not a “Disneyland candy love story”. This was a story of two people who lived a rough, harsh life and experienced events that broken them. Me neither I am not much a foul language fan especially when written just so to make more words counts but it was not the case in that book, so for me the vocabulary was as much a part of the characters as their emotions were.
Broken is all about Eric and Lena from the first book SAVE and OMG...yes, this is how broken people come to be for real. I found this one to be so much darker and sadder than the first one (even with the crazy EX attacks) because we see a side of Lena that was not revealed previously and we also gain an even better understanding of the relationship between Eric, Josh and Lindsay.
Lena had a much tougher upbringing than we knew and it explains why she is the independent, successful artist she grew up to be...pictures are like the window to your soul and she can see it clearly through her art.
Eric and his "love 'em and leave 'em" ways is also easier to sympathize with or at least understand after we get his whole back story and together these two very broken people find their way.
Where SAVE gave me goosebumps and suspense, BROKEN made me cry and think back to my own dysfunctional childhood and growing up a target in high school by mean girls (and boys) so I really appreciated the honesty of this book.

I gave this one ****4**** stars because some parts dragged on a bit but overall it was well worth reading =)
